KNOWING BY ROCKY KIMOMO 2024

 Synopsis:

In 1959, a Lexington, Massachusetts elementary school celebrates its opening with a competition in which students draw what they believe will happen in the future. All the children create visual works except for Lucinda Embry. Guided by whispering voices, Lucinda fills her paper with a series of numbers. Before she can write the final numbers, the allotted time for the task expires, and the teacher collects the students' drawings. The following day, Lucinda engraves the remaining numbers into a closet door with her fingernails. The works are stored in a time capsule and opened 50 years later when the current class distributes the drawings among the students. Lucinda's paper is given to Caleb Koestler, the 9-year-old son of widowed MIT astrophysics professor John Koestler.

John discovers that Lucinda's numbers are dates, death tolls, and geographical coordinates of major disasters over the past 50 years, including the Oklahoma City bombing, September 11 attacks, and Hurricane Katrina, as well as three more yet to happen. In the following days, John witnesses two of the three final events in person: a plane crash and a New York City Subway derailment caused by a faulty siding. John becomes convinced that his family has a significant role in these incidents: his wife died in one of the earlier events, while Caleb was the one to receive Lucinda's message. Meanwhile, Caleb begins hearing the same whispering voices as Lucinda.

John locates Lucinda's daughter Diana and her granddaughter Abby to help prevent the last event. Diana becomes suspicious but eventally goes with John to Lucinda's abandoned mobile home, where they find a copy of Matthäus Merian's engraving of Ezekiel's "chariot vision", in which a great sun is represented. They also discover that the final two digits of Lucinda's message are not numbers but two reversed letter E's, matching the message left by Lucinda under her bed: "Everyone Else," implying an extinction-level event. During the search, Caleb and Abby, who were left asleep in the car, have an encounter with the beings who are the source of the whispers. Diana tells John that her mother had always told her the date she would die. He also visits Lucinda's teacher, who despite showing signs of Alzheimer's disease, tells him of the scratching on the door left by Lucinda.

The next day, Abby colors in the sun on the engraving, which gives John a revelation. He rushes to the MIT observatory and learns that a massive solar flare with the potential to destroy all life will strike the Earth on the last date indicated by the message. As Diana and Abby prepare to take refuge in nearby caves, John goes to the school and finds the door on which Lucinda engraved the final numbers. He identifies them as coordinates of a place where he believes they may find salvation from the solar flare. The skeptical and hysterical Diana loads Caleb and Abby into her car and flees for the caves.

At a gas station, the whispering beings steal Diana's car with Caleb and Abby inside. Diana pursues them but is killed in a crash. The beings take Caleb and Abby to Lucinda's mobile home, where John encounters them shortly thereafter. The beings, acting as extraterrestrial angels, are leading children to safety on interstellar arks. John is told he cannot go with them because he never heard the whispering, so he convinces Caleb to leave with Abby. The two are taken away by the being, and the ark, along with many others, leaves Earth.

The following morning, John decides to be with his family when the flare strikes and drives to his parents' house, where he reconciles with his estranged father. The solar flare then strikes, vaporizing New York City, and then destroying the surface of Earth. Meanwhile, the ark deposits Caleb and Abby on another world resembling an earthly paradise and departs, as do other arks. The two run through a field towards a large white mysterious tree resembling the tree of life.

BROTHERS BY MUSSA SAVIMBI

 Synopsis:

The film opens in medias res where street fighting issues are raised in Mumbai. Sports chairman Peter Braganza expresses his desire of making street fighting a legal sport and decides to open a league called Right 2 Fight (R2F). Meanwhile, imprisoned Garson "Gary" Fernandes, a recovering alcoholic and former MMA expert under rehabilitation, is released from his jail term, and his younger son Monty comes to pick him up. Monty gets tensed when his father asks about his elder son David and takes him away to their home. At home, Gary acts protective of all the belongings of his wife, Maria, who died many years ago. David, now a physics teacher, has a daughter with a kidney ailment. Unable to arrange money from the bank and other sources, he starts to earn money through street fights, as he was once a promising MMA fighter when he was younger. This stresses out his wife, Jenny, as she is worried about David. Meanwhile, Gary, who misses his wife Maria, starts hallucinating about her and violently attacks a mirror from self-hating about how he destroyed his family. Monty rushes to stop and comfort his father, realizing how much regret he has. Gary then tries to meet David, but the latter ends up throwing Monty and Gary out of his house in a rage after Gary sees his granddaughter and learns David named her after his mother, Maria.

Over a flashback, Monty is revealed to be Gary's illegitimate child. Maria nevertheless loved Monty, as she did David. The two brothers had a close, loving relationship until David was 23 and Monty was 15. On the night of Monty's 15th birthday, Gary came home drunk and apologized to Maria for destroying the family, but mentioned his lover Sarah's name, instead of Maria's. An enraged Maria confronted Gary about this, and in a drunken state, Gary hit Maria, who was injured from hitting her head on the furniture and died. A furious David pushed Gary aside; when Monty came close to Maria, who reached out to him before passing, David angrily pushed him away, holding his father and half-brother equally responsible for his mother's death. This is what created the rift between Gary, Monty, and David.

David later loses his job in school when principal Shobhit Desai learns about David's involvement in street fights. Monty, who wants to be a fighter, is then introduced to Suleiman Pasha, a fighting agent who is old friends with Gary, as they trained together. Suleiman fixes a match with Mustafa in which Monty is defeated. This enrages Gary, but Monty asks for a rematch with Mustafa, where Monty brutally defeats Mustafa after listening to his father’s advice and is declared a selected fighter for R2F by Peter. The fight is recorded and uploaded to YouTube, and soon Monty becomes an internet sensation. Monty undergoes training to become the R2F champion. Meanwhile, David, too, decides to be a full-time fighter, and Jenny encourages him to do so. Suleiman is initially unconvinced by David but arranges a match while Monty celebrates his victory at a bar. David is soon victorious in the fight and is accepted for R2F after convincing Suleiman of his true potential. R2F begins its grand debut and soon becomes a sensation as fighters from all over the world show their interest in the league. Monty easily defeats his opponents till he goes up against Luca, a fighter who is notorious for brutally knocking out his opponents(Gama and Potter) but manages to knock him out, shocking the audience as he becomes the first finalist. Meanwhile David the underdog comes up with a robust game plan to outlast his opponents (Ronnie and Tenzin) to reach the semis. There, he fights Hammer; an aggressive fighter who kicks the cage, injuring Gary. This leads to David going in all out attack mode to violently assault Hammer in retaliation, and he too advances to the finale. After beating their last opponents the brothers are now the finalists and their identities as siblings are revealed to the public causing massive media coverage for the R2F.

Gary, feeling guilty about his sons fighting each other instead of loving one another because of his mistake, leaves the arena. Jenny, David’s students, principal, and everyone back at Suleiman’s fight club watch the match, which becomes brutal from the heated rivalry between the brothers. Monty proves dominant in striking and throws in cheap shots to taunt David, Gary heads back to the arena when he sees the fight. During the fight, David breaks Monty's shoulder, which causes David concern as Monty refuses to give up. Gary rushes towards the cage and apologizes for his mistakes, and tells David not to direct his anger towards his brother. Monty continues to fight despite David’s plea to stop. David gets Monty in a rear-naked chokehold and tells Monty not to fight anymore. Monty, in turn, tells David to continue to choke him because David is selfish and never considered how Monty felt that night, telling him Maria was also his mother and how lonely he was without her and David in his life. David moved to tears, now realizing how much pain he caused to his brother finally apologizes, and Monty allows David to win the championship. David takes Monty in his arms, and both brothers walk backstage, now having finally reconciled.

LIFT BY GAHEZA SIMBA 2024

Synopsis:

Cyrus, a renowned international thief, leads a heist crew that consists of Denton, pilot Camila, hacker Mi-Sun, safecracker Magnus, and engineer Luke. They undertake two simultaneous thefts, stealing a Van Gogh painting in London while staging the fake kidnapping of renowned NFT artist N8 in Venice. The team staged a kidnapping for N8 and Cyrus points out that famous paintings rapidly increase in value after being stolen and he says that his crew stole the Van Gogh painting and sold it in the black market for $20 million to buy N8 NFTs. After being "kidnapped", N8's NFT ballooned in value to $89 million. N8 decides to celebrate with the team after being promised a cut of the money.

Interpol agent Abby Gladwell, a former fling of Cyrus, uncovers evidence implicating Denton, in the theft and arrests him. Rather than proceed with charges against the crew, Abby's superior, Commander Huxley, leverages their legal predicament to force them to help capture billionaire Lars Jorgenson, who intends to make more money by working with the hacking group Leviathan to stage a massive flooding in Europe, allowing him to make billions in profit through stock manipulation. As Leviathan requires payment in untraceable gold bullion, Jorgenson has arranged for a shipment of gold to be taken from his vault in London and flown to Leviathan's bank in Zürich via a commercial airliner. As part of the deal for clean records for Cyrus and all his members, Cyrus insists Abby join the team to provide certain cover for Interpol.

The crew determines they will only be able to steal the gold while the airliner is in mid-air. To do so, they procure a private jet from a rich private art collector named Molsen that Camila will fly directly underneath the airliner, allowing Mi-Sun to switch the radar signals to make it seem like the plane is still on course while the crew diverts it to a private airfield. In exchange for loaning his private jet, Cyrus promises Molsen to persuade N8 to make a special NFT art for him. After Magnus cracks the safe and Jorgenson's henchmen are incapacitated, the crew will extract the gold via the jet.

Their timing is complicated when Jorgenson executes a mole in his organization and moves up the delivery date. Nevertheless, the crew is ready on time. After successfully diverting the plane, Jorgenson's henchmen attempt an hijack, resulting in a fight on board the plane. Magnus, Abby, Cyrus, and Camila are captured. Magnus escapes on the ground, while the remaining three are taken aboard the jet with the gold, headed for Jorgenson's estate in Tuscany.

Desperate for the gold to not reach Jorgenson, Huxley orders the plane shot down by NATO. Harry, the crew's contact at air traffic control, works with Camila to get a message to the pilots that there are hostages on board, forcing them to stand down. Another fight between the crew and Jorgenson's henchmen results in the jet crash landing on the grounds of Jorgenson's villa.

Abby, Cyrus, and Camila are captured at gunpoint by Jorgenson, who also executes Leviathan's representative after they decide to cancel the deal. The Carabinieri arrive, and Cyrus uses N8's NFT technology to show them a recording of Jorgenson murdering the representative. Jorgenson is arrested, while Abby punches Huxley upon learning he authorized the NATO jets. She resigns from Interpol and joins Cyrus.

Weeks later, Cyrus reveals to Abby that the crew stole the gold shipment during the heist on the airliner, replacing the actual shipment with iron bars painted to look like gold. Together, the crew recover their gold haul and celebrate their success while Cyrus and Abby rekindle their relationship.

PUSHPA: THE RISE BY ROCKY KIMOMO 2024

 Synopsis:

Set in the late 90s, labourer Pushpa Raj decides to smuggle red sandalwood with his friend Kesava. He moves up the ranks in smuggler Konda Reddy's group while evading DSP Govindappa. Konda's brother Jaali hates Pushpa for getting more attention from his elder brother. Konda's boss, Srinu, entrusts Konda to keep his contraband of tonnes of sandalwood safe from the Police Department, and Pushpa is assigned to the task by the Reddy brothers, so that if anything happens to it, they can blame him in front of Srinu. Jaali intentionally sabotages Pushpa so he'll get caught by the police, but Pushpa and Kesava use their quick thinking to avoid getting caught. Pushpa finds out Srinu is scamming his workers and tells Konda, but he refuses to go up against the powerful Srinu.

Pushpa falls in love with Srivalli, a milk seller, and an engagement is arranged. During the ceremony, Pushpa's elder half-brother Mohan makes a scene, revealing Pushpa is illegitimate. In the ensuing scuffle, Pushpa's mother gets hurt, which motivates him to make his way up. He bypasses Srinu, and is able to get a higher profit for the wood that he agrees to split with Konda. Jaali discovers Srivalli's father is a mole for Govindappa; lusting after Srivalli, Jaali blackmails her to sleep with him to save her father. Srivalli tells Pushpa, who beats Jaali and leaves him paralysed. Jaali doesn't tell Konda who beat him, wanting to kill Pushpa himself, but Konda discovers the truth on his own.

Konda attempts to kill Pushpa, but they're attacked by Srinu's men and brother-in-law, Mogileesu, who kills Konda Reddy. Pushpa rescues Konda's younger brother Jakka, rekindling their partnership, and murders Mogileesu. MP Naidu arranges a truce between Pushpa and Srinu, but after discovering about the latter's scams, he appoints Pushpa to replace Srinu. As time goes by, Pushpa takes control of the entire syndicate.

Govindappa resigns, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat takes charge. Pushpa offers a bribe to Shekawat, but Shekawat ridicules Pushpa due to arrogance. After this incident, Pushpa ostensibly turns meek and submissive towards Shekawat, but on the day of his wedding, Pushpa gets his revenge on Shekawat, revealing that he promised his mother he would stay safe and not get into trouble before his wedding day.

Pushpa forces Shekawat to strip down to his underwear while he also does the same, boasting that he derives his prestige and power from his own self, while Shekawat is nothing without his uniform and that without it, even his dog won't recognize him. Pushpa leaves to marry Srivalli, while a humiliated Shekawat walks home, where his dog fails to identify him, just like how Pushpa predicted. Enraged, Shekawat shoots and kills his dog, whilst also burning Pushpa's bribe money, swearing revenge. Pushpa, after tying the knot to Srivalli, tells her that his rule has just begun.

UNTHINKABLE BY ROCKY KIMOMO 2024

Unthinkable is a 2010 American thriller film directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Sheen and Carrie-Anne Moss. It was released direct-to-video on June 14, 2010. The film is noteworthy for the controversy it generated around its subject matter, the torture of a man who threatens to detonate three nuclear bombs in three U.S. cities

Synopsis:

An American man and former Delta Force operator, Yusuf, makes a videotape. When FBI Special Agent Helen Brody and her team see news bulletins looking for Yusuf, they launch an investigation, which is curtailed when they are summoned to a high school, which has been converted into a black site under military command. They are shown Yusuf's complete tape, where he threatens to detonate three nuclear bombs in separate U.S. cities if his demands are not met.

A special interrogator, "H", is brought in to force Yusuf to reveal the locations of the nuclear bombs. H quickly shows his capability and cruelty by chopping off one of Yusuf's fingers with a small hatchet. Horrified, Special Agent Brody attempts to put a stop to the measures. Her superiors make it clear that the potentially disastrous consequences necessitate these extreme measures. H escalates his methods, with Brody acting as the "good cop". Brody realizes that Yusuf anticipated that he would be tortured. Yusuf then makes his demands: he wants the President of the United States to announce a cessation of support for puppet governments and dictatorships in Muslim countries and a withdrawal of American troops from all Muslim countries. The group immediately dismisses the possibility of his demands being met, citing the U.S. government's declared policy of not negotiating with terrorists.

When Brody accuses a broken Yusuf of faking the bomb threat in order to make a point about the moral character of the United States as a nation, he breaks down and admits that it was all a ruse, giving her an address to prove it. They find a room that matches the scene in the video tape and find evidence on the roof. A soldier removes a picture from an electrical switch, which triggers a C-4 explosion at a nearby shopping mall that kills 53 people. Angry at the senseless deaths, Brody returns to Yusuf and cuts his chest with a scalpel. Yusuf is unafraid, claiming that she gave him a chance to recover his strength. He justifies the deaths in the shopping mall, stating that the Americans kill that many people every day. Yusuf says he allowed himself to be caught so he could face his oppressors.

H questions whether Yusuf will reveal the bombs' location unless Yusuf's wife is found. When she is detained, H brings her in front of her husband and threatens to mutilate her right there. Brody and the others begin to take her away from the room in disgust. Out of desperation, H slashes her throat, and she bleeds to death in front of Yusuf. Still without cooperation, H tells the soldiers to bring in Yusuf's two children, a young boy and girl. Outside of Yusuf's hearing, he assures everyone that he will not harm the children. Yusuf's children are brought in, and H makes it clear that he will torture them if the locations of the bombs are not divulged. Yusuf breaks and gives three addresses (in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas), but H does not stop, forcing the others to intervene. Citing the amount of missing nuclear material Yusuf potentially had at his disposal (some 15–18 lbs. were reported missing, with about 4½ lbs. needed per device), H insists that Yusuf had not admitted anything about a heretofore-unreferenced fourth bomb. H points out that everything Yusuf has done so far has been planned meticulously. He knew the torture would most likely break him, and he would have been certain to plant a fourth bomb, just in case.

The purpose of the preceding torture was not to break Yusuf, but rather to make it clear what would happen to his children if he did not cooperate. The official in charge of the operation demands that H bring Yusuf's children back in for further interrogation. H demands that Brody bring the children back in because her decency will give him the moral approval that he needs to do the "unthinkable". When Brody refuses to retrieve the children for H, he unstraps Yusuf, sarcastically setting him free. The official draws his pistol and aims it at H to coerce him into further interrogation. Yusuf grabs the official's gun. He asks Brody to take care of his children and kills himself. Brody walks out of the building with Yusuf's children.

THE A TEAM BY MUSSA SAVIMBI 2024

 Synopsis:
John "Hannibal" Smith is held captive in Mexico by two corrupt Federal Police officers working for renegade General Javier Tuco. Hannibal escapes and sets out to rescue his friend Templeton "Face" Peck, who is also held captive at Tuco's ranch. Hannibal saves Face after enlisting former Ranger B.A. Baracus, driving to the rescue in B.A.'s modified GMC Vandura. Pursued by Tuco, they stop at a nearby Army hospital to recruit the services of a pilot H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock. They flee in a medical helicopter and are being chased by Tuco in a dogfight. They ultimately lure Tuco's helicopter into American airspace where it is shot down by a fighter jet for trespassing, killing Tuco.

Eight years later in Iraq, Hannibal is contacted by CIA Special Activities Division operative Lynch, who assigns them on a black operation to recover U.S. Treasury plates and over $1 billion in cash slated to move out of Baghdad in an armored convoy. Hannibal's commanding officer, General Morrison, consents to the operation but Morrison seems somewhat pensive about the mission. Face's former girlfriend, Defense Criminal Investigative Service Captain Charissa Sosa, also tries to discourage the team from getting the plates. The mission proceeds regardless, and is successful, but when the team returns to base, both the money and Morrison's vehicle are destroyed by Brock Pike and his men from the private security firm Black Forest.

Without Morrison, the only proof that they were authorized to act, Hannibal, Face, Murdock, and B.A. are court-martialed, sentenced to ten years in separate supermax prisons, and dishonorably discharged. Because the plates were her responsibility, Sosa is demoted to lieutenant.

Six months later, Lynch visits Hannibal in prison and tells him that Pike may be trying to sell the plates with the help of an Arab backer. Hannibal, who has been tracking Pike on his own, makes a deal with Lynch: full reinstatement and clean records for his team in return for the plates. Lynch agrees and Hannibal escapes, breaking out Face, B.A., and Murdock in the process. The team hijacks a C-130 before plane is destroyed by Reaper UCAVs, but not before the team parachutes away in an M8 light tank stashed aboard. They begin firing at nothing in mid-air to change direction and slow their descent speed, which Sosa realizes means they were trying to "fly the tank," and ultimately make it to the ground safely.

The team moves to reclaim the plates and kidnaps Pike's backer. It is revealed that the backer is actually General Morrison in disguise, who plotted with Lynch and Pike to steal the plates but teamed up with Pike to double-cross Lynch and fake his death. Meanwhile, Lynch orders an airstrike to kill the team and Morrison, but the team manages to escape while Morrison is killed in the explosion.

Hannibal arranges to meet Sosa on board a container ship at the Port of Los Angeles, claiming he will hand over "Morrison" and the plates. Face then calls Sosa and conspires on a different plan with her knowing Lynch was probably eavesdropping on the call. It all unfolds according to plan until Pike, now working with Lynch, blows up the container ship with a rocket launcher and chases Face in an ensuing gunfight. B.A., who became a pacifist during his prison time, eventually confronts Pike before killing him and saving Face's life. Hannibal leads Lynch into a container with Murdock, who, wearing a covered, bullet-proof helmet filled with ketchup, is portraying Morrison with the help of recordings of Morrison before his death. Lynch shoots at Murdock's head, and believing that he has killed Morrison, is later tricked into admitting that he stole the plates and is subsequently caught and arrested by Sosa for his crimes.

CIA agents led by a separate "Lynch" come and claim custody of the original one. Despite their success and proving themselves innocent, the military still arrests the team for escaping from federal prison, which is a criminal offense. Sosa is reinstated to captain, but she promises to do all she can to set the team free and kisses Face as everybody is led into a prison van. In the van, Face opens his mouth, revealing a handcuff key given to him by Sosa through the kiss.

BEAST OF NO NATION BY ROCKY KIMOMO

 Synopsis:

A young boy, Agu, lives in a small West African village with his parents and siblings, located within a "buffer zone" enforced by ECOMOG troops. The village is informed that the government has fallen and military-aligned rebels have seized control of the country. With rebel forces headed towards the village, many people flee to the country's capital for safety. Agu's father buys safe transport for his wife and two youngest children, but has to stay behind with Agu and his eldest son. Rebel and government forces fight in and around Agu's village. While the rebel soldiers flee, government forces round up the remaining villagers and execute them, but Agu escapes into the jungle.

After wandering for a while, Agu is caught up in a guerrilla skirmish. The Native Defense Forces (NDF), a rising rebel faction in the country, adopt Agu into their ranks. Agu's battalion is led by the Commandant, who takes Agu under his wing. Following a brutal initiation process where Agu hacks an innocent captive to death with a machete, Agu becomes a fully-fledged member of the militia. Agu befriends another young NDF child soldier, Strika, who never speaks. One night, the Commandant summons Agu to his quarters and rapes him. Strika, another of the Commandant's rape victims, comforts him. Preacher, an older soldier, gives Agu brown-brown to lift his mood. Agu and Strika take part in a number of bloody battles and ambushes. During one of the raids Agu, under the influence of brown-brown, mistakes a villager for his mother. He exclaims that he found her and clings to her while the other members of the group declare they want to rape her. The woman does not recognize Agu and he calls her a witch woman. Agu then shoots the woman while she is being raped.

The battalion's many victories earn them a summons to the rebel headquarters, where the Commandant, accompanied by Agu, Strika, and a few other soldiers, go to meet with the NDF leader, Dada Goodblood. Goodblood, who stresses the importance of public image in the wake of the conflict becoming world news, denies the Commandant his promised promotion to General, and removes him from command. The Commandant's lieutenant, Two I-C, will take control of the battalion, and the Commandant will be made Deputy Chief of Security under the leader. The Commandant views this as an insult, and leaves to "celebrate" with his men at a brothel. While the adult soldiers spend the night with the brothel's women, one of the women shoots Two I-C. Two I-C accuses the Commandant of orchestrating the incident before dying, while the Commandant insists it must have been a botched attempt against himself. The prostitute professes that it was an accident, but the Commandant and his men shoot the women and leave the city.

Now on the run from their own faction as well as their enemies, the battalion suffers heavy losses. Air strikes and supply shortages kill Strika and many others. The survivors take shelter at a gold mine for several months, hoping to find gold to pay for supplies. Ammunition runs out, leaving the group with no way to defend themselves from encroaching enemy forces. Following a confrontation between a frustrated Preacher and paranoid Commandant, Agu and the soldiers all abandon the Commandant to surrender, ignoring his warnings that they will merely be thrown in jail and disowned by their families. Shortly after, they are detained by UN troops.

The younger members of the battalion are sent to a missionary school in a safe part of the country, while Preacher and Randy decide to run away to rejoin the war. Agu avoids the other children, who play games and enjoy the comfort and safety of the school. Agu suffers from drug withdrawal and is tormented by what has happened and has nightmares about it. Eventually, Agu tells the school's counselor that he has done some terrible things, which he fears will make her see him as a "beast". Instead he tells of how he used to be a good boy from a family who loved him. The final scene shows Agu finally joining the other boys as they swim and play in the ocean.

ABOVE THE BRAVE, A FILM ABOUT HEROISM OF NYANGE STUDENTS IN KINYARWANDA #30th GENOCIDE MEMORIAL

Story:

Talent Care Performing Arts, Films and Media Group is preparing to launch a film called ‘Above the Brave’ which will be talking about the Heroism of Nyange students and teach about heroism culture among Rwandans, specifically youth.

Speaking to the CEO and founder of Talent Care Performing Arts, Films and Media Group and the script writer of this film, Isae Karinda told The New Times that they chose to make a film about these students because of their brave acts which shouldn’t be done by anyone else.

“We chose to work on the heroism of Nyange students to elevate and teach the heroism culture as well as inspiring the country’s youth. Where Rwanda stands now needs the heroic youth who can be able to do everything for their country, Karinda said.

“Nyange students have shown altruistic endeavors and stood for the Rwandan unity which should be an example to the youth and for myself they are a good role model,” he added.

Karinda explained that the film ‘Above the Brave’ will be showing what happened during the 1997 attacks of infiltrators known as Abacengezi at the ES Nyange in Ngororero District.

“This film will be showing everything people ask themselves about what happened during the 1997 attacks where these infiltrators came from Masisi in Democratic Republic of Congo former Zaire and many of them were the Genocide perpetrators who had escaped the country after RPF liberated the country,” he explained.

“Above the Brave’ also has a part which shows how ancient Rwandans were living in unity and how they had a bravery culture, '' he added.

The film which has been written since 2021 will be officially launched on June 24 at Canal Olympia, Rebero and will be premiered at different international festivals before the launch, Karinda the writer, director and producer revealed.

“We started to write this film in October 2021 and before it is launched, we are approaching some big international festivals which should lift up its value on the local and international market as well as spread the message to many people around the world,” Karinda noted.

Some of the actors and actress who are in this film are Daniel Gaga known as Ngenzi in ‘Inzozi’ film, Didier Kamanzi known as Maxwell Manzi in ‘Rwasa’ and currently is acting in ‘Seburikoko’, Adeline Byukusenge known as Noella in ‘Impanga series’, Esperance Uwamurera known as Sheila in ‘Gitera film’ which is also produced by Talent Care Performing Arts, Film and Media and Maman Trecy in ‘Impanga series’ as well as other renowned actors and actress in Rwanda.

Karinda as a writer, director and producer hopes this film will get more attention among the youth and contribute to the National unity and superhuman culture in Rwandans and draw lessons from Nyange heroes to everyone who will watch it.

“I believe that this film will be more attractive to many people especially youth and will play a big role in peace building, heroism, culture promotion and raising patriotism as well as prevent any form of hatred and divisionism,” he said.

Besides the expectation he has on this film, Karinda asked the Ministry of Youth and Culture to give Cinema production in Rwanda and other parts of these kinds of arts the value and support, especially in a financial manner.

THE FOREVER PURGE BY GAHEZA SIMBA

 Synopsis:

In 2048, eight years after Charlene Roan's presidential election, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) has been re-elected and have re-instituted the annual Purge with its original rules. Racial supremacy and nativism have surged nationwide following their re-election, and many outside the ruling party are concerned that the upcoming Purge will inflict more damage on the country than the NFFA realizes. Mexican couple Juan and Adela illegally cross the border into Texas to build a new life near Austin, with Juan working as a farmhand on the Tucker family ranch while Adela works in town.

Ten months later, on the eve of the 2049 Purge, Juan and Adela join a migrant community behind a walled sanctuary with armed security to protect them. As the Purge begins, Adela witnesses a nationalist Purger group, who declare themselves to be the Purge Purification Force (PPF), intent on killing those people that they consider non-American. The migrant community survives the Purge with no incidents. Come morning, Juan and Adela return to their jobs, but both notice that many of their co-workers did not report to work. Adela is attacked by two self-proclaimed Forever Purgers, but she is rescued by her boss, Darius, before the police arrests both for killing their attackers.

Juan and fellow migrant co-worker T.T. discover that the Tucker family has been taken hostage by their white farmhands – Forever Purgers intending to take the ranch for themselves. Patriarch Caleb Tucker sacrifices himself and distracts the Purgers long enough for Juan and T.T. to rescue his son Dylan, Dylan's pregnant wife Cassie, and Dylan's sister Harper. As they drive off to search for Adela, the news confirms that civilians nationwide, connecting via social media, have declared a Forever Purge, opposing NFFA orders to stand down.

The group rescues Adela and Darius from Purgers. Darius stays behind to search for his family while the others escape from a burning Austin. At a gas station, they hear news reports that, to protect non-Purger civilians, Canada and Mexico have opened their borders for the next six hours. Following that, the borders will close and entry will be denied. The group decides to escape across the Mexican border at El Paso.

By the time the group arrives in a chaotic El Paso, the NFFA has invoked martial law across the United States to contain the violence. Fighting through El Paso, Adela and Cassie are split from the group by military forces while Juan, T.T., Dylan, and Harper are captured by the PPF, with their Alpha Leader offering Dylan and Harper a chance to live if they kill T.T. and Juan. When they refuse, the Purgers murder T.T. just before the military intervenes, allowing the group to escape. However, the military is forced to withdraw from El Paso when more Purgers destroy their base. In response, the Canadian and Mexican governments announced the early closure of their borders, leaving those who gathered to cross them vulnerable to the Purgers.

Downtown, Adela protects Cassie from other Purgers, revealing that she and Juan had once been members of a self-defense group who trained them to fight against Mexican drug cartels. The diminished group reunites at a hidden safe house run by a local Native American tribe. The Native leader offers to transport everyone across the border as refugees. In the desert, Juan, Adela, and Dylan, with the Native leader and his men, stand against Alpha and the PPF, to make time for the other refugees to escape. When their ammo runs out, the group draws the PPF in for a close fight with hand weapons. In the ensuing battle, the Purgers are killed and Alpha takes Adela hostage. However, Juan and Dylan work together to subdue and kill Alpha. The trio rejoins the others in a refugee camp across the Mexican border, where Dylan finds Harper and Cassie – and meets his newborn daughter.

News reports indicate that the NFFA has dispatched troops but is effectively being destroyed by the violence it no longer controls; more than two million Americans had crossed the Canadian and Mexican borders as refugees, and civilians in America are rallying to fight back against the Purgers.

TRIGGERED BY ROCKY KIMOMO

 Synopsis:

A group of former high school friends reunite for a camping trip. The group includes valedictorian Rian (Reine Swart) and her boyfriend PJ (Cameron Scott), a rock drummer; popular Ezra (Steven John Ward), wallflower Erin (Liesl Ahlers), couple Shay (Suraya Rose dos Santos) and Bobby (Michael Lawrence Potter), best friends Amber (Paige Bonnin) and Cici (Kayla Privett), and the brooding Kato (Russell Crous). As the group attempts to turn in for the night, they are knocked out by gas placed by a mysterious figure and Erin, who discovers the gas, is knocked out. The nine awaken and find themselves strapped to suicide bomb vests.

The man responsible is Mr. Peterson (Sean Cameron Michael), the group's former science teacher. He confronts the group, as he holds them responsible for the death of his son Caleb, who died of a drug overdose at a party. He sets off various timers on each student's vest and proceeds to kill himself in front of the group. When they find a battered Bobby, who had been separated from the group, it's revealed that he helped Mr. Peterson and was responsible for the group going to the woods. Bobby apologizes, explaining that he was blackmailed by Peterson, but it is too late and the vest explodes, killing him.

After Bobby, PJ has the lowest time and begs Rian to help. However, when he is startled by Shay, he accidentally kills her with a high impact blow to the head with his flashlight. He and Rian discover Shay's time has been added to PJ's vest, thus giving him the highest time. Rian tells the group about what had happened and that he got the time because of "proximity sensors". When Cici has the next lowest score, she goes insane and goes after the group. When Cici learns Amber had been sleeping with Ezra thanks to Kato telling her, Amber defends herself and kills her best friend. Kato convinces Amber to ally with him to kill the others so they can be the last ones standing.

Ezra convinces Erin to team up with him and the two find a man bloodied and tied up in the forest. Erin recognizes him as Detective Miller, Rian's father. Miller tells the two that Peterson forced him to reopen Caleb's case and had strapped him to a vest as well. As he is mortally wounded, Ezra kills Miller, but since Erin is the closest one, she gets his time. Ezra did it as the first selfless act he's done as he has had a reputation as a selfish playboy type. As Erin looks for Rian, Kato, now gone insane, kills Ezra as revenge for Amber. Erin finds Rian and tells her about her father's ordeal.

Meanwhile, Kato shoots PJ in the head and then betrays Amber for sleeping with Ezra and chops her repeatedly with an axe. When Rian attempts to turn the vest off, it leads to a sudden death situation between her, Erin, and Kato. Rian then is ready to kill Erin but breaks down and confesses that she is the one who killed Caleb. She admits to slipping ecstasy given to her by Kato at Ezra's party five years ago because he had a higher GPA than her and she was desperate to be valedictorian. She only meant to give him a small dose but gave him too much. She even convinced her father to cover it up. Kato, upon hearing the confession, sneak attacks and kills Rian. However, Rian falls in Erin's arms and thus, she gets the time, which angers Kato.

Kato taunts Erin, who has always been the quiet one. However, Erin gains the confidence she desperately needed and incapacitates Kato, who gives his final words as his timer goes off and explodes. Erin’s vest glows, revealing a message that reads: "All your friends are dead! Have a nice life!"

A mid-credit scene shows Erin escaping to the road and flagging down a passing car. However, he sees her gun and drives away. Erin screams, and then slowly begins to smile.

IRON MASK - PK THE SOUND 2022

 Story:

Arnold Schwarzenegger vs Jackie Chan? Not a battle I thought I’d wanted, but now that it exits I could not be happier!

Plot: The English traveller Jonathan Green receives from Peter the Great an order to map the Russian Far East. He sets out for a long journey full of incredible adventures that will eventually lead him to China. The cartographer will unexpectedly face a lot of breathtaking discoveries, encounter bizarre creatures, meet with Chinese Princesses, and confront deadly martial arts masters, and even the king of all dragons, the Dragon King. What could be more dangerous than meeting eye-to-eye with Viy, except doing it again? What would be stronger this time, a staunch asceticism of the scientist or the old black magic that has seized power of Eastern lands?

So back in 2014 a Russian film called Viy was released that was loosely based on Nikolai Gogol’s classic 1835 horror novella of the same name. And by loosely I mean they’ve basically changed the entire story (and not in a good way) and made an over-the-top computer special effects-heavy mess of a film. So now we have a sequel in the shape of The Mystery of Dragon’s Seal, or The Mystery of the Iron Mask…or Viy 2….or Journey to China….basically, this film for some reason has various titles so it is hard to pin-point which one is the main one. Seriously, check on Wikipedia, IMDb or the movie’s marketing, this film has multiple titles. Why? Well, to be honest “why?” is a question one can ask a lot when it comes to this movie. Why was this sequel made in the first place? And for some reason with this sequel Russia has teamed up with China to both co-finance and produce it, and the result is very strange to say the least.

If I had one word to describe this film it would be random. Don’t worry, you don’t need to watch the 2014 Viy film to understand what is going on here, as it is a standalone story, though I wouldn’t say this movie even has much of a story. More like a series of vignettes and random events and side-plots that are meshed together to fill up the 2 hour run-time, and it’s ridiculous, over-the-top, and, as I mentioned earlier, very random. None of it really makes sense, and it takes inspiration and steals ideas from other material like it’s nothing. There’s the whole ordeal with the man in the iron mask, which, for those of you who know your history, was originally the mysterious prisoner who was held in various French prisons in the latter half of the 17th century rumoured to be the older, illegitimate brother of Louis XIV. Well in this movie the man in the iron mask is the Russian Tsar Peter the Great who’s imprisoned in the Tower of London by Arnold Schwarzenegger. That’s right. it’s that kind of movie! And as a whole the movie definitely has a big Pirates of the Caribbean vibe to the whole thing, as well as merging various Chinese fantasy flicks together into one. The result is quite messy and though I enjoyed certain scenes and characters, there were many times where I felt flat-out bored.

From a technical stand-point this movie does also disappoint, and though I am aware that this thing doesn’t have a Hollywood budget, the abundant use of green screen here is uncanny, and the entire thing looks so fake. Also, whoever did the sound editing and mixing really needs to reconsider their career path, as the sound mixing between camera shots and scene transitions was extremely uneven. That being said on the other hand there were some really nicely looking sets and costume designs, and the dragon that appears at the end of the movie, though nothing spectacular, still had a nice design to him. At least he looked more interesting that the very uninspiring Smaug from The Hobbit films.

The parts of the film that do really leave an impression are the participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan. These two are absolute scene-stealers, and you can tell that they were having just as much fun on set as we are watching them. And as I mentioned earlier, seeing a battle between the terminator himself and the dude from Shanghai Noon was not something I thought I wanted to see, but boy was I game for it when it happened on screen. It is a shame that both of these actors are in the movie for about 20 minutes in total (even though the marketing makes them look like the leads), but the time they are on screen does indeed elevate the film to another level. The sadly recently deceased Rutger Hauer also makes a fleeting cameo alongside Charles Dance, but none of the cast members really leave as big of an impression as Arnie and Jackie. Also, the main lead played by Jason Flemyng came across very flat and dull. All in all, Journey to China (or whatever it is called) is a disappointing mess that is only worth seeing for the pairing of Schwarzenegger and Chan, or for people who want to see a mindless popcorn flick with some enjoyment value and that happen to understand either Russian or Chinese. Actually, that reminds me, the dubbing for this film is atrocious. With the entire cast originating from various countries, the movie dubs everyone according to the movie’s distribution location, and that comes as a big distraction. Then again, I feel like the film’s producers are very aware that they were making a trashy stupid movie in the first place, so there is only so much valid critique I can give to this thing. At the end of the day it’s all done just for fun.

 Cast:

  • Jason Flemyng as Jonathan Green
  • Helen Yao as Cheng Lan
  • Jackie Chan as Master Et Al
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger as James Hook
  • Yuri Kolokolnikov as Tzar Peter the Great
  • Anna Churina as Miss Emma Dudley
  • Charles Dance as Lord Dudley
  • Rutger Hauer as The Ambassador
  • Martin Klebba as Captain
  • Christopher Fairbank as Grey
  • Igor Jijikine as Dead Cossack
  • Robert Gilabert Cuenca as Tower Guard

THE RUINS BY GAHEZA SIMBA 2024

 Synopsis:

In a brief prologue, a woman crouches alone in darkness, and screams for help before she is dragged by an unseen force. Two young American couples — Jeff, Amy, Eric, and Stacy go on vacation to Mexico. They meet Mathias, a German tourist, who is looking for his brother Heinrich. His last known location is an archaeological dig at a remote Mayan ruin in the jungle. They are also joined by Dimitri, Mathias' friend. The group reaches the ruins of a Mayan temple, and are confronted by Mayan villagers armed with knives, bows, arrows, and a gun. Mathias tries to explain their purpose, but the villagers do not understand Spanish or English. When Amy accidentally steps on some vines, the villagers become extremely agitated. Dimitri approaches the villagers, hoping to appease them, but they shoot and kill him. The rest of the group flees up the steps of the ruins.

At the top, they find an abandoned camp and a shaft in the center. They hear a phone ringing from somewhere inside the ruins. The group lowers Mathias down the shaft with a rope, but it breaks and Mathias falls, becoming paralyzed. Amy and Jeff descend the temple steps hoping to reason with the Mayans, but to no success. In anger, Amy throws a clump of vines which hit a young boy, whom the Mayans promptly kill. They realize the Mayans are afraid of the vines, and will not let them leave as they have all touched them. Later, Stacy and Amy descend the shaft to rescue Mathias.

The next morning, Stacy sees a tendril of vine has crept into a wound on her leg. The vines have also wrapped themselves around Mathias' lower legs and eaten them down to the bone. Eric and Jeff are barely able to remove the vines from Stacy, but cannot get them off of Mathias. The phone is heard again from deep in the shaft so Stacy and Amy descend again. In a small, vine-covered room, the two find the body of the young archaeologist, Heinrich's friend, and a broken phone. They then realize that the ringing sound was made by the flowers of the vine. As Amy touches one flower, the vines attack and the two barely escape.

As Mathias' condition worsens, Jeff amputates his legs to avoid an infection. Stacy becomes jealous at Eric comforting a distraught Amy and accuses them of having sex. While the four argue, the vines suffocate Mathias.

In the morning Eric brings Amy and Jeff into the tent and tells Stacy to show them the vines underneath her skin. Jeff uses a knife to remove the vine from her leg and spine. Stacy tries to take the knife, claiming that the vines are in her head. The rest of the group watches her as a vine moves under the skin in her forehead, revealing that her fears are true.

The next morning, Stacy awakens and leaves the tent where the rest of the group is sleeping. She finds a backpack, which contains a knife. Jeff hears moans coming from outside and goes to see what is going on, and finds Stacey covered in open wounds slicing her body open to get the vines out. He touches her and she flails the knife at him, slicing his palm. Eric also tries to calm her, but she spins around and fatally stabs him in the chest. While the rest try to restrain Stacy, Eric is dragged away by the vines. Overcome with remorse, Stacy begs Amy to kill her, and Jeff kills her as an act of mercy.

Jeff makes a plan for Amy to escape. He smears Stacy's blood all over her, then carries her to the bottom of the temple and lays her on the ground. He then provokes and berates the Mayans, drawing their attention away from Amy. The Mayans eventually shoot Jeff with arrows. Amy gets up and runs through the jungle with the Mayans chasing after her. Jeff is killed by the Mayan leader with a gunshot to the head. After escaping from the Mayans, Amy reaches the Jeep and manages to drive away.

After Amy's escape, Dimitri's two Greek friends are seen walking through the woods and come up to the temple, looking for him.

ROAD HOUSE BY ROCKY KIMOMO 2024

 Synopsis:

Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit. He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer. Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car. He takes a coach bus to Frankie's establishment, simply called 'The Road House,' and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen.

At the Road House, Dalton fends off a motorcycle gang working for local crime boss Ben Brandt and personally drives the injured thugs to the hospital, where he meets Ellie, a doctor who tends to his injuries. Staying in Frankie's disused houseboat, Dalton mentors the other bouncers and becomes popular with the locals. After an attempt on his life by gang leader Dell, Dalton finds him lying in wait at his houseboat. He throws Dell overboard but is unable to save him from being killed and eaten by a crocodile.

Knox, a psychotic enforcer, is tasked by Brandt's incarcerated father to hunt down Dalton. After an unexpected date with Ellie, Dalton is threatened by Sheriff 'Big Dick' to leave town at gunpoint but is rescued by Ellie, who is revealed to be the sheriff's daughter. She explains that her father is in league with Brandt, who has inherited his wealthy father's drug empire. Brandt meets Dalton at the Road House and taunts him about his past: in a UFC title fight against a friend, Dalton was overcome with rage and killed his opponent in the ring. Knox arrives with Brandt's men, and an all-out bar fight ensues, leaving Dalton badly beaten.

Frankie admits that Brandt has been buying up property to build an expensive resort, but she is the lone holdout. Dalton decides to leave town but discovers that Charlie and Stephen are in the hospital after Brandt's men burned down their bookstore. Enraged, Dalton kills one of the thugs responsible and captures a sheriff's deputy making a large delivery of Brandt's illicit cash, framing the deputy for the murder and taking the money. The sheriff soon informs Dalton that Brandt has kidnapped Ellie and will exchange her for the money.

Stealing a motorboat to reach Brandt's yacht, Dalton finds him with the sheriff, who tells him that the kidnapping was a lie to lure Dalton aboard, but Brandt reveals that he actually is holding Ellie hostage. Tempers flare as Knox approaches in his boat, but Dalton detonates a bomb and finds Ellie below deck. Fleeing the sinking yacht by motorboat, Brandt recaptures Ellie while Dalton commandeers Knox's boat. Catching up to Brandt, Dalton and Ellie leap off as Brandt is launched on top of the Road House.

Climbing ashore, Knox hijacks a pickup truck and crashes into the Road House, leading to a brutal fistfight with Dalton. When Brandt orders him to kill Dalton, Knox snaps Brandt's neck instead. He prepares to finish off Dalton with a shard of wood, but Dalton gains the upper hand and repeatedly stabs Knox into submission. The sheriff arrives, agreeing to cover up for Dalton.

As Frankie and Stephen begin to rebuild, Charlie says goodbye to Dalton as he waits for his bus out of town. Stephen discovers Dalton has left them the trunk of cash as the bus pulls away. In a mid-credits scene, Knox has survived and assaults the hospital staff, leaving in his gown.

Road House had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 8, 2024 as the opening night film, and was released in the United States via streaming on Prime Video by Amazon MGM Studios on March 21, 2024. It is the first film to be released as part of the centennial anniversary celebration of the founding of MGM, with a "100th anniversary" variant of its 2021 logo unveiled at the start of this film. The film did get a special theatrical release at 17 cinemas operated by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service on March 16, 2024. Liman wrote an editorial piece in Deadline Hollywood criticizing Amazon for bypassing a wide theatrical release for the film after they purchased MGM and announced a $1 billion investment to release 12–15 films a year theatrically. He wrote that he would not be attending the film's premiere at SXSW in protest. Gyllenhaal responded by stating that while he sympathized with Liman's views, Amazon made it clear that it would have a streaming release for the film. Liman ultimately attended the SXSW premiere. On February 27, 2024, the original screenwriter for the 1989 version, R. Lance Hill, sued MGM and Amazon claiming copyright infringement and also accusing the studio of using AI–generated voices of the actors to complete the project during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike; Hill was hoping to bar the release of the film.

ADULTERERS 18+ ROCKY

 Synopsis:

During a hot day in New Orleans, after his work at a hardware store, Samuel returns home with a bouquet of flowers for his wife Ashley for their wedding anniversary. However, he finds her cheating on him with Damien. He holds them captive at gunpoint, while he decides their fate.

At first, Samuel thinks about shooting both of them, but then he finds himself reliving the events in his mind. Instead of shooting them, he forces Ashley and Damien to reveal their personal lives and sexual encounters. Samuel learns that Damien has a wife, Jasmine, who is three months pregnant, and that Ashley's abusive ex-boyfriend was actually her ex-husband (it is not clear if Ashley is bigamous). Samuel asks Damien to call Jasmine, using the speaker so that everyone can hear the conversation, and to tell her what he had done with Ashley. Jasmine reveals that Damien has cheated on her many times in the past. Devastated, Jasmine is asked by Samuel to decide the fate of Damien: either Samuel shoots him, or he lets him go home. He suggests that Jasmine come and confront Damien in person, and have sex with Samuel to show him what it feels like to be cheated on. BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE BY ROCKY KIMOMO 2024

 Synopsis:

In 1976, amidst armed political conflict that is affecting daily life in Jamaica, Bob Marley announces he will perform at a concert, Smile Jamaica, promoting peace amongst the warring factions. While preparing for the concert, Marley, his wife Rita, and several other members of his band are shot by assailants. Rita and Marley are hospitalized, but survive and recover from their injuries in time for the concert. After performing, Marley, saddened that his own countrymen would try to kill him and his wife, shows the crowd his bullet wounds before walking off stage. He tells Rita to take their children to Delaware in the United States and stay with his mom, as he and the rest of his band venture to London.

After struggling to come up with a new album concept, Marley asks Rita to rejoin him and the band in England, and taking inspiration from the soundtrack of the film Exodus and their own situation, he and the band begin recording what would become their album of the same name. The album becomes a hit and helps further popularize reggae music and the Rastafari movement around the world. When the recording company schedules a tour in Europe, Marley also aims for stops throughout Africa to inspire the people there. This leads to friction with Rita as she and Marley argue about his responsibilities and both his and Rita's infidelities, in addition to having given up on promoting peace back in Jamaica. Marley also gets into an altercation with manager Don Taylor over a financial dispute.

After a toenail infection raises concern from Rita and his record producer Chris Blackwell, Marley is later diagnosed with a rare skin cancer. Blackwell confronts Marley about treatment choices, reluctantly dismissed by a firm Marley. Faced with his own mortality, Marley reconciles with Rita and Taylor and finally decides to return to Jamaica in 1978, where he is welcomed back by a crowd at the airport. Back home, the gunman who had shot him and the others arrives and begs for forgiveness, to which Marley states he "keeps no vengeance". After Marley debuts a song to Rita and the children about reconciliation, she finally deems him ready to perform a peace concert. The film ends as Marley and his band gear up to perform again for the Jamaican crowd with the song "One Love".

A pre-credits montage shows clips of the real Marley and his band during the One Love Peace Concert, which sees them joined on-stage by the heads of both of Jamaica's political parties, also revealing that Marley and his band were able to perform in Zimbabwe to celebrate the nation's independence before he died of his cancer in 1981 at the age of 36.
